2014-SSS-Event-MapThe City of Salem will hold its second annual open streets event on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Salem Sunday Streets will open up an approximately one and a half mile traffic-free route in the heart of the city for the public to play and explore.

Salem Sunday Streets is a free event, open from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. The event, organized by the City of Salem’s Community Development, Urban Development, and Public Works Departments, community partners, and volunteers, is expecting over 2,000 participants.

This year’s event will kick-off at noon by the Capitol steps with a Running of the Bulls starring the Cherry City Derby Girls. There will be a primary activity hub at the Capitol steps featuring a pedal-powered music stage and a food cart pod. Other fun, family-oriented activities will be located along the route, such as yoga, bike safety skills and repair workshops, art, music, and a TEDxSalem promo talk. There will also be a farmers market in Willson Park. The Hallie Ford Museum will be offering free admission during Sunday Streets.
