Botanical Walk at Zena Forest

Saturday-Sunday | September 13-14 | 9:30-2:30

Cost: $45/one day (or) $85/two days (includes all materials)

Instructors: Jack Nisbet and Catherine Alexander

Spend Saturday exploring Zena Forest collecting native seeds and plants and learning about sustainable forest management. On Sunday, preserve and mount your plants
using a microwave plant press.

About the Instructors:

Jack Nisbet is a writer, educator and naturalist based in Spokane, Washington. He has authored numerous books on the human and natural history of the Inland and Pacific Northwest, including David Douglas: A Naturalist at Work and The Collector: David Douglas and the Natural History of the Northwest, which was named a 2010 Book of the Year by the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association.

Catherine Alexander is an artist, natural science illustrator, writer and curator based in Salem, Oregon. She conducts nature illustration workshops and exhibits her work throughout the Western U.S. Catherine is currently curating an exhibit about the botanical legacy of David Douglas, a plant collector who explored the Northwest in the early 1800s.
