Thursday, July 9 | 5:30 – 6:30 PM

“Boosting Morale: Entertaining and Feeding Camp Adair Soldiers during WWII”

John Baker, war historian and author of Camp Adair: the story of a World War II
Cantonment, will discuss the reputation of Salem’s restaurant industry and social scene
for fortifying soldiers at the WWII Camp Adair training facility near Corvallis.
This lecture will take place in the Dye House.

Thursday, July 23 | 5:30 – 6:30PM

“Eating Salem: An Eyewitness View of Salem’s Rich and Diverse Restaurant History”

Gerry Frank, fourth-generation native Oregonian with deep roots in the retail,
restaurant, political, civic and business of the state, will provide an insider’s view
of Salem’s restaurant history, from Meier and Frank’s Oregon Room to the Konditerei.
This presentation will take place in the Spinning Room.
The Willamette Heritage Center‘s new History Pub series coincides with the exhibition:

Eating Salem: An Exhibit of Restaurant History, on view at the Willamette Heritage Center through August 22.
