Hikes Along the Pacific Crest Trail

Paul Gerald, Hiker, Author and Blogger

Paul Gerald will speak about his experiences hiking segments of the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon on Thursday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Room at Salem Public Library. These experiences went into his book, Day and Overnight Hikes on the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon.

Gerald is a prolific author on the topics of hiking and camping in Oregon. Among his books are: 60 Hikes Within 60 miles of Portland, The Best in Tent Camping, Oregon, and Peaceful Places: Portland.

The Pacific Crest Trail stretches from the Mexican border to Canada through California, Oregon, and Washington. Gerald says of the trail, “It isn’t just a trail; it’s a subculture, a tribe, a way of life, a state of mind.”

This event is free of charge through the generous support of the Salem Public Library Foundation.
