(Charles Chaplin, USA, 1915)

Haunted Spooks

(Alfred J. Goulding, Hal Roach, USA, 1920)

In The Balloonatic, a misadventure with a hot air balloon takes Buster Keaton far from the city into the wilderness, where he encounters nature, wild bears, and––of all things––the self-sufficient, autonomous Modern Woman.  Charlie Chaplin plays a wallpaper hanger in Work, who causes plenty of trouble in a home that has enough problems to begin with. Harold Lloyd’s new wife, in Haunted Spooks, comes with a haunted house she hopes to inherit—if they can stay the night. 83 minutes.
