Downtown #SalemOR Streetscape Plan Open House #3

The scope of work for this project includes a communication strategy that will include multiple opportunities to gather input from the community to inform development of the Design Plan.

This public input process began in 2017 and will continue in 2018.

Walker Macy has experience in streetscape projects that have been shown to enhance downtowns. Their project team consists of experienced professionals in the fields of landscape architecture/planning, civil engineering, transportation, public involvement, and economics.

Ask the Experts 2018

A lively array of activities and information will greet visitors as Salem Public Library hosts its fifth annual Ask the Experts event. Ask the Experts features a variety of local experts hosting activity tables on the main floor and special group demonstrations in the Heritage Room.

Sample a new skill, learn about interesting things, meet fascinating people, and learn about our community at this annual, all-ages, drop-in event featuring area groups and businesses showing you what they know. A variety of experts representing area groups and businesses will be on hand to demonstrate their skills, interests, and areas of expertise. Groups will have tables with activities for all ages, and several will also have special scheduled group activities in the Heritage Room.

This event is free and open to the public, with activities to appeal to all ages.

It is an open house, drop-in style event, so community members are welcome at any time during the afternoon.

Kids in grades 2-5 are to learn all about some of the most magnificent mammals of the sea in this multimedia presentation about whales and how they live.

This STEAM-based after-school experience is taught by experts from the Oregon Coast Aquarium using a multimedia presentation, bones, blubber, baleen and two life-sized inflatable whales. The focus is on how toothed and baleen whales have adapted for survival. Participants will compare their own adaptations with those of these giant creatures.
